A seemingly slimmed-down Michelle Obama shared a video message on social media pimping her new book Overcoming, her third book since 2018 — and the latest effort is just in time for the busy Christmas shopping season.

Feigning surprise as to what’s in the box before her, Obama can be seen in the video reaching in and pulling out a copy of her book.

“My new workbook Overcoming is out, It’s gonna be on shelves. This is the first time I’ve held it myself,” she said excitedly. “This is a timely gift or purchase for yourself because this is a workbook that takes you through some techniques and exercises based on some of the insights I shared with you all in The Light That We Carry.”

The reference is to her 2022 follow-up to her 2018 memoir, “Becoming,” which sold over 17 million copies around the world. The follow-up was a #1 New York Times bestseller, with sales of 1.85 million units.

“So I encourage you particularly during this time during the holiday season, during a time where we feel a little out of sorts, a little anxious,” Obama added. “I urge you to pick this book up and just walk through some of the exercises and also do it in some groups. I know there are a lot of great book groups out there and you guys might find that using some of these exercises, techniques, and tips is a form of conversation. So I hope you find this useful.”

In sharing the video message on X, the former first lady wrote: “I’m so excited to give you a first look at Overcoming — a workbook designed to help you get through the challenging periods life throws our way. With the holidays coming up, this workbook will be a great gift for your family, friends, and all the people you care about. It comes out on December 3 and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.”

The fawning over Michelle Obama is just as sickening today as it was when the former first lady resided in the White House, never mind her divisive attitude about America.

“Our Forever First Lady, Michelle Obama, always gives us exactly what we need – even when we don’t know we need it,” wrote Angela Johnson, a journalist with The Root, about the new book.

You may recall Mrs. Obama’s reaction to her husband being elected president: “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.”

And she was 44 years old when she said that.

As for the title of the book, which features “practical tools for navigating life’s challenges and fortifying oneself in the face of uncertainty, obstacles, and self-doubt,” as described by Penguin Random House, it seems the use of the term “overcoming” is a bit ill-fitting given that the Obamas have a combined net worth of $70 million and live in a mansion in Martha’s Vineyard that they purchased for $11.75 million in December 2019.

The irony here is that when Michelle Obama spoke at the DNC convention over the summer, she had this to say of her parents, “She and my father didn’t aspire to be wealthy. In fact, they were suspicious of folks who took more than they needed.”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
