Following the election, President Donald Trump announced that former ICE Director Tom Homan would be the nation’s new “Border Czar.”
Homan, a steadfast supporter of strong border policies and seasoned law enforcement leader, will be tasked with overseeing all aspects of U.S. border security, extending beyond the southern and northern land borders to include maritime and aviation domains.
Homan will lead all deportation efforts, enforcing strict policies to remove illegal aliens from the country.
On Wednesday, Homan spoke exclusively with The New York Post regarding a horrific video released earlier this week of showing an unaccompanied two-year-old girl who came across the border with nothing more than a note pinned to her shirt.
Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety, South Texas Region, shared the disturbing video on X.
“WATCH: An unaccompanied two-year-old child from El Salvador explains she arrived in the US by herself and that her parents are in the US. The child had a piece of paper with a phone number & name,” he wrote.
“This morning, @TxDPS encountered a group of 211 illegal immigrants in Maverick County. Among the group were 60 unaccompanied children/minors ages 2 – 17 and 6 special interest immigrants from Mali & Angola.”
“This is a stark example of the precarious journey these children make from their home country & how criminal organizations traffic these children across the southern border & further into the interior.”
“Regardless of political views, it is unacceptable for any child to be exposed to dangerous criminal trafficking networks. With a record number of unaccompanied children and hundreds of thousands missing, there is no one ensuring the safety & security of these children except for the men & women who are on the frontlines daily. Despite the criticism over the years, the reality is that many children are exploited & trafficked, never to be heard from again. DPS has rescued over 900 children during #OperationLoneStar from abandonment & human smuggling.”

In speaking with The Post regarding the distrubing incident, Homan shared that, tragically, this is not an isolated incident.
“That is an example of what I’ve been saying for the last few years, that illegal immigration is not a victimless crime,” Homan, who was noticeably upset and frustrated, fumed.
“People always ask, ‘Why do you get so emotional when you’re on Fox News, why do you get so emotional when you’re testifying to Congress and start yelling?’ It’s because I’ve seen more tragedies in 34 years than I can stomach,” the ex-cop continued.
“I’ve held dying children and I’ve helped dead children. I’ve talked to girls as young as nine who were raped multiple times by members of the cartel. I saw 19 dead aliens at my feet, a five-year-old boy was baked to death. I’m tired of it.”

“We’ve got to tell the truth about the tragedy on that border, about the women being raped by members of the cartel, about children being sexually assaulted. A child dies almost every f–king day on that border,” he raged.
