Pollster Frank Luntz received quite an earful when he attempted to push the cheaper Thanksgiving dinner narrative.
Years of high prices, among other policy disasters, resulted in voters choosing to oust President Joe Biden in favor of his predecessor President-elect Donald Trump. All the media coverage in the country wasn’t enough to keep Americans from seeing reality every time they visited the grocery store, and Thanksgiving is no exception.
So when the latest holiday talking point started going around, it was met with a healthy dose of mockery from social media users.
The average cost of #Thanksgiving dinner (estimated at $58.08 for a 10-person gathering) has dropped 5% since last year – the lowest since 2021. https://t.co/U5KDj9AlxQ

Luntz posted on X that a 10-person Thanksgiving gathering should cost around $58.08, which is allegedly a 5% drop from 2023 and the “lowest since 2021.” A link from the Farm Bureau goes into deeper detail on the subject, explaining which products are cheaper and which rose in price.

Outraged consumers flocked to Luntz’s post to give him a piece of their mind:
We all know better than this. Stop insulting our intelligence.

Excuse me ??? Clearly you haven’t went grocery shopping. For our 10 person thanksgiving our cost was $250. You’re insane if you think working class families believe this

Dude…the only way that number is accurate is if it’s PER PERSON or you’re dishing up 10 of these: pic.twitter.com/G8sglepmoI

Frank wants you to believe that 10 people can eat Thanksgiving dinner for $58.
At a price of $5.80 per person.
This is how you got Trump, Frank.

I just spent $600 buying food for eight people for Thanksgiving (sans booze).
The 21-pound turkey alone was more than $58.08 as was the HALF spiraled bone in ham.
Where did they come up with $58.08? Frozen TV turkey dinners?

Wait…someone is saying you’re going to host 10 people for Thanksgiving and it’s only going to cost $58.08? You’re posting this like it’s accurate!?! No wonder no one has any idea what’s going on…

Um, I spent over $100 yesterday buying the ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner and that didn’t even include the Turkey. Where in TF are getting grocery prices from?!
