President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Jimmy Patronis, the chief financial officer for the State of Florida, on Monday in the race to succeed Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and three potential candidates dropped their bids.

“Should he decide to enter this Race, Jimmy Patronis has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump wrote on social media.

Patronis responded to Trump, writing, “Put me to work, Mr. President! I am here to serve.”

Three GOP candidates ended their bids after Trump endorsed Patronis, including State Representative Michelle Salzman; John Frankman, a former Green Beret; and Keith Gross, who served in the U.S. Army National Guard and challenged Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., but lost in the GOP primary.
