There are only human rights and when you start breaking people down based on whatever group progressives make up, you end up with special rights for one group at the expense of others.
It’s unclear why drug addicts living on the street need more special rights than the ones they already have but one Washington Democrat wishes to solidify that into law.
According to The Post Millennial
A Democratic state representative in Washington is advocating for a bill that would make homelessness a civil rights issue and make people living on the streets a protected class.
State Rep. Mia Gregerson is reportedly pushing legislation for the upcoming session in the Democratic-controlled State Legislature that would shield the homeless from “discrimination based on housing status.”
Is there any evidence that Seattle’s Walking Dead is being “discrimination based on housing status”? Additionally, if they are being discriminated against anything it’s most likely the fact that they look like and act like zombies and are high on Fentanyl but that’s neither here nor there.
And for the record, “housing status” makes no sense because it’s not tied to one’s identity. That is something that can change on a moment’s notice and it’s asinine to make it a protected class.
According to a draft of the bill, “[M]any communities within Washington are enacting and enforcing laws that disproportionately impact homelessness or make living in public a crime. These laws are potentially unconstitutional, make it harder for people to exit homelessness, do not solve the underlying problem of homelessness, and waste precious public funds.”
There are more than enough resources to help these people but they don’t want it. They would much rather get high with the help of their welfare checks. If they truly wanted a better life they would do everything in their power to get help. And it’s disingenuous to claim this has anything to do with discriminating against the way they sleep, as it has everything to do with the betterment of society.
Allowing drug addicts to shoot up wherever they please is an objectively bad thing for both the individual and society. And the fact that progressives wish to do everything in their power to “protect” that is deranged, delusional, and asinine.
