Exhilarating moments like the one seen Tuesday on ABC’s The View are few and far between, even though it could have been mistaken for a hostage video.

The glorious event featured bitter co-host Sunny Hostin being forced to read a “legal note” on Tuesday informing viewers that President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Matt Gaetz has “long denied all allegations” of sexual misconduct against him and that a Justice Department criminal investigation into the matter was “closed with no charges being brought.”

Cohost Whoopi Goldberg set the scene when she announced, “Sunny, you have a legal note.”

“I do have a legal note. Thank you, Whoopi,” replied a sick-looking Hostin.

“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations,” Hostin began, “calling the claims, quote, ‘invented,’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that ‘this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism.’ The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”

Clearly, the notion of being straightforward with the truth does not sit well with the liberal harpies on the show.

At the center of the announcement is yet another DC political class smear campaign, with Gaetz being the target of this latest effort based on a dubious allegation that the Republican had sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl. The whole sordid affair has serious E. Jean Carroll vibes, given the moneyed legal representation certain “sources” have managed to acquire.

Doing their part to perpetuate the claim, Whoopi and Hostin all but convicted Gaetz prior to the forced fact-check.

“Within the Department of Justice, you have the sex crimes unit, which is what I was a part of,” Hostin said. “Child sex crimes and child trafficking. How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?”

“I’m saddened by it because all of those women who will have to get some defense of what’s happened to them, that’s who they’re going to, and this is someone who will just say, ‘It’s not a big deal.’ All of those little kids who, you know, get abused, they got no recourse now because this is what’s in charge,” Goldberg said, pouring it on.

Here’s a sampling of the schadenfreude in response to the story, as seen on Elon Musk’s free speech platform X:
