New York Governor Kathy Hochul canceled a congestion pricing plan for Manhattan below 60th Street. The canceled plan set a $15 toll to get the job done, whatever it is. Hochul has now revised the plan to set the toll at $9, thus saving commuters 40 percent, or $1500 annually.

You may be wondering how you can get in on the action. This is a funnier bit than Saturday Night Live has featured in quite some time. The New York Times plays the straight man in Hochul’s routine.

By contrast, Nicole Gelinas dissects Hochul’s revised plan in the New York Post column “Hochul’s congestion-pricing fails reveal incompetence — or a long con.” There is more to the story than Hochul’s comical pitch. Hochul’s pitch may be the only funny thing about it.
