Senator Markwayne Mullin says he will give Matt Gaetz the same treatment during the confirmation process as any other appointee despite their differences.

While speaking to NBC on Sunday, Mullin says his contentious relationship with the former congressman is not a secret.

However, when it comes to potentially confirming Gaetz (R-Fla.) as Donald Trump’s attorney general, Mullin says the Senate should have access to the currently-confidential House ethics report.

He says he isn’t sure whether the report should be made public but it should definitely inform the confirmation process.

“I do respect President Trump’s right to appoint these individuals, but underneath Article 2, Section 2, Congress has to advise and consent, and Matt Gaetz is going to go through the same scrutiny as every other individual, and I’m going to give him a fair shot, just like every individual,” Mullin stated.

“I got to set my personal situation with Matt to the side and look at the facts. If he’s qualified, he’s qualified,” Mullin added.

House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) says Gaetz is very intelligent and has pointed out that the attacks against him came at the same time he was putting heat on Hunter Biden.
