In a recent video message posted on X, Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde has officially conceded the Wisconsin Senate race to incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
Hovde’s statement came amidst mounting allegations of election fraud in Wisconsin.
Hovde, a businessman and first-time Senate candidate, had been a formidable contender, focusing his campaign on key conservative priorities like fiscal responsibility, border security, and law enforcement support.
On election night, early projections showed Hovde with a commanding lead. However, over 108,000 absentee ballots were dumped in Milwaukee at 4:00 AM, with Senator Tammy Baldwin receiving nearly 90% of those votes.
In a video statement released last week, Hovde said:
“Statistically, this outcome seems improbable, as it didn’t match the patterns from same-day voting in Milwaukee, where I received 22% of the votes.
Since last Wednesday, numerous parties have reached out to me about voting inconsistencies, such as certain voting precincts in Milwaukee having turnout of over 150% of registered voters, and in some cases, over 200%.
Additionally, in 2020, President Biden received 10 million more votes than Vice President Harris did last Tuesday.
Yet in Milwaukee, even though the population has declined and registered voters decreased by 26,330, and early voting numbers were down, somehow, Harris received only 1,100 fewer votes than Biden did, which is not consistent with most major cities,” he added.
This was accomplished by same-day registration that surged by almost 50% on a rainy day. Many people have reached out and urged me to contest the election.”
Despite calls from supporters to contest the results, Hovde explained his decision to concede.
In his concession speech, Hovde expressed pride in the campaign he ran, focusing on substantive issues rather than personal attacks.
Hove also refused to request a recount, stating, “Without a detailed review of all the ballots and their legitimacy – which will be difficult to obtain in the courts – a request for a recount would serve no purpose… because you would just be recounting the same ballots regardless of their integrity.”
