Forty years ago, Earl Guynes did what every good father would do when his family was in need. He sacrificially sold his dream car, a 1967 Camaro, to buy diapers for his son, Jared.

He would poke fun at Jared, 40, saying, ‘I used to have a car like that one over there’ and ‘I let it go for diaper money.’

Apparently, Earl talked about the car often enough that Jared had the details of the Camaro drilled into his memory.

It’s a 1967 Marina blue Camaro SS with a 350 small-block V8, an automatic 3-speed transmission, Crager chrome 15-inch mag wheels with white letters on the tire, a small 1969 style cowl hood on the front, a small whale tail on the back, and a black interior.

In 2022, Jared began actively looking for the car. The original car was sold for cash, so there was no way to find the specific car, but he did eventually find a 1967 Camaro that needed just a little work.

So, for the next two years, he secretly restored the car.

Then, on his father’s 65th birthday, he hired a magician to present the car to his father.

Here’s the local news reporting:

Jared wrote: ‘I’ve only seen my dad cry two times in my entire life. My dad only smiles, laughs and selflessly gives his best effort in the service of others.

‘Tonight, I saw him cry a third time, as he realized the car in the parking lot that looked just like his old one was actually his after all.

‘And it was one of the best moments of my entire life.

‘I love you, Dad. Thanks for the diaper money.’

What a great story!!
