President-elect Donald Trump was greeted Saturday night by a roaring crowd donned in red as he took a brief interlude from building his Cabinet to attend the UFC fight in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where he held one of his most famous campaign rallies a few weeks earlier.
The hero’s welcome — complete with chants of “USA, USA” — was capped off when undisputed heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones saluted Trump after winning his fight by re-enacting Trump’s signature campaign dance and then handing the president-elect his championship belt.
Trump flashed a smile and thumbs up as Jones handed him the belt.
“A big, big thank you to President Donald Trump for being here tonight,” Jones said in his post-fight interview, sending the Madison Square Garden audience into a frenzy.
Trump was accompanied by an All-Star entourage that included Elon Musk, House Speaker Mike Johnson, music star Kid Rock, UFC President Dana White, and first son Donald Trump Jr.
