Far-left race-oriented MSNBC host Joy Reid has made a rash decision following President-elect Donald Trump’s blowout victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, though she claims her decision had nothing to do with his win.
Reid deleted her X account earlier this week, making her the latest notable future to do so after Harris’ loss and Trump’s decision to elevate X principal owner Elon Musk to an administrative position focused on eliminating government waste.
She attributed her decision to the site’s current owner in a video.
“Today I finally did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while,” she said in the clip. “The reason for doing it, and kissing goodbye my 1.9 million followers, is because I haven’t been posting for a long time. I just didn’t want to be contributing content once it was purchased by its present owner.”
“Every so often I would use it to just look at news that was trending and what’s happening and I would just use it as an aggregator, but I just realized that’s not really worth it,” she added. “Because in order to do the news aggregation and just look at all, you have to wade through a lot of dreck and just abuse and a lot of negativity and it’s just not worth it.”

Reid was a vocal Harris supporter and blamed her loss on “patriarchy” and white women.
“Black voters came through for Kamala Harris, white women voters did not,” Reid said during MSNBC’s election night coverage. “This would be the second opportunity white women in this country have to change the way they interact with the patriarchy.”
Her decision follows a similar move by former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who announced his departure from the platform on Wednesday. Lemon also voiced concerns about the site’s leadership, but his decision comes after Musk canceled a broadcast deal on the platform with Lemon following a contentious first interview.
“As the Washington Post recently reported on X’s decision to change terms, this ‘ensures that such lawsuits will be heard in courthouses that are a hub for conservatives, which experts say could make it easier for X to shield itself from litigation and punish critics,’” Lemon wrote. “I think that speaks for itself.”
British newspaper The Guardian also announced Wednesday it would abandon the site over what it saw as promotion of “far-right conspiracy theories and racism.”
Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have officially joined Donald Trump’s administration, according to a statement from the president-elect.
Trump announced in a statement on Tuesday that the two would jointly lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency. Both Ramaswamy and Musk were vocal throughout Trump’s campaign about the need to reduce the size and power of the federal government.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE],” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
‘DOGE’ is also a cryptocurrency that Musk has often promoted.
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump said in a statement.
The Department of Government Efficiency is not a new government agency. Trump said it will “provide advice and guidance from outside of government” and “partner” with the White House and Office of Management and Budget to drive structural government reform, ABC News reported.
“‘This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!’ stated Mr. Musk,” the statement continued.
Trump speculated that the effort could become a modern-day version of the “Manhattan Project” in terms of its scope, influence, and legacy.
