Alternate headline: Things I Should Have Thought About Before Hitting ‘Post’.
Meet Annie Dunleavy, Connecticut teacher and brand-new TikTok star for all the wrong reasons. On Monday, Libs of TikTok highlighted a video posted by this special education educator giving her reaction to the previous week’s election results. Rather than just expressing anger and disappointment, Dunleavy decided to go for social-media stardom by threatening to kill Trump voters and demanded that they fight her (NSFW, language):

You can probably figure out what happened next. Parents in the Chesire Public Schools district demanded an explanation of why a special-ed teacher issuing death threats in public was allowed in a classroom with children. The district immediately suspended her, and the local police department opened an investigation the next day. The day after that, the district announced that Dunleavy had resigned.
Ah, the wages of celebrity!
However, Dunleavy hasn’t quite finished with her 15 minutes of fame. She showed up on WTNH in an interview with reporter Dennis House to explain that all she ever wanted to do was teach children. Dunleavy said her “message came off wrong,” which seems a little difficult to believe. The message that “I will end you … forever” seemed to come through loud and clear, actually. Nevertheless, Dunleavy wants everyone’s sympathy and understanding:

Annie Dunleavy says her threats are just one big misunderstanding.

“I was in a moment of high emotion, and I shouldn’t have posted,” Dunleavy told News 8’s Dennis House. “The message came off wrong, which was if this is going to give people the permission in their minds to enact violence against women, I wanted to say, I’m not going down without a fight. I will fight for myself, and if someone was to try to hurt me, I would protect myself.”

Only in the mind of rabid partisans is a vote for a major-party nominee an act of violence, and only in such deranged minds is a threat to “end you … forever” a self-defense argument. It’s not really actionable by law enforcement, because it’s non-specific and stupidity isn’t illegal. However, stupidity and emotional instability usually don’t work well in the classroom, so Dunleavy either got the boot or quit before the screen door hit her on the way out.
And that is rather sad, mainly because of its pointlessness. It takes years of study and effort to become a teacher, and only one futile TikTok to undo all of that work and ambition, a point that Dunleavy belatedly recognizes now:
“It’s my life’s dream to be a teacher,” she said. “I consider those kids to be my kids, and they fill that for me, and it’s just so fulfilling, so rewarding, and I really know that what people see right now, I don’t look like that person, but I truly would do anything to help any child and family in need.”
Again, these are points she should have considered before posting her hatred and vitriol on line. What was the end goal of this rant, anyway? The election was over; no one was going to go back and change their vote on the basis of Crazy Connecticut Karen’s threats to “end” people. For that matter, what’s the point of all the rage videos posted by people who clearly don’t know that “democracy” also entails losing elections? They want to punish everyone by threatening violence, or shaving their heads, or declaring a four-year sex strike … all under the massive delusion that these damage anyone other than the people posting the videos of their narcissistic insanity.

A Connecticut teacher learned that lesson the hard way. Maybe that will teach the rest, but somehow, I doubt it. Not with this example yesterday of the same narcissistic delusion from Whoopi Goldberg, whose sex strike will impact precisely zero Trump voters. Just sayin’.
Whoopi Goldberg threatens to join liberal women going on sex strike, after Trumps win.
“If we don’t let you, you don’t get any. It’s that simple.”
