Nope, this isn’t satire.
[Warning: An S-bomb, rants about the New World Order]
Jones was forced to auction off his business to pay restitution to families who lost loved ones in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. Jones was ordered to pay $1.5 billion for suggesting that the shooting was a hoax.
Wild and crazy and Jones’s rants may be, the case has created a lot of debate about the fundamental right to free speech and belief.
The Onion, which has tried desperately to pivot and become funny again, released this satirical statement after the purchase:
All told, the decision to acquire InfoWars was an easy one for the Global Tetrahedron executive board.
Founded in 1999 on the heels of the Satanic ‘panic’ and growing steadily ever since, InfoWars has distinguished itself as an invaluable tool for brainwashing and controlling the masses. With a shrewd mix of delusional paranoia and dubious anti-aging nutrition hacks, they strive to make life both scarier and longer for everyone, a commendable goal. They are a true unicorn, capable of simultaneously inspiring public support for billionaires and stoking outrage at an inept federal state that can assassinate JFK but can’t even put a man on the Moon.
That’s the kind of “humor” you get when an NBC reporter purchases your platform.
Glad to see The Onion is still as cringe as ever.
I’ll update this article with The Babylon Bee’s take once they publish it (in case you want an actual laugh).
