President-elect Donald Trump has named former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as his pick for the Director of National Intelligence role in his incoming administration.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) oversees the U.S. intelligence community.
Gabbard joined the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2003 and transferred to the Army Reserve in 2020. She currently holds the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Gabbard also served in Congress as a Democratic representative for Hawaii from 2013 to 2021.
She broke with Democrats to endorse Trump in his 2024 presidential run in August.
“As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican!” Trump stated.
“I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!”
