A billionaire businessman announced his plans to relocate to the United States following the victory of President-elect Donald Trump.
Anthony Pratt, an Australian billionaire with an estimated net worth of about $12.3 billion, has announced his plans to move to the United States. He reportedly received approval for a permanent residency green card sometime last month.
Pratt is among the wealthiest people in the world and is currently ranked number 207 on Bloomberg’s top 500 richest folks list. He owns the Australian-based recycling and paper company Visy, as well as Pratt Industries, a corrugated packaging business in Conyers, Georgia.
In a LinkedIn post, Pratt explains that he made the call to move as most of his family are US citizens and because of his growing business empire. He also announced that he will “remain Chairman of Visy Australia, and will be returning to Australia on a regular basis.”
Trump and Pratt previously met in 2019 to tour a Visy plant in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The pair made headlines again in 2023 when the media reported on claims Trump had leaked America’s nuclear submarine secrets to the businessman. Trump denied the allegations in a post on Truth Social in October of last year.
“I never spoke to him about Submarines, but I did speak to him about creating jobs in Ohio and Pennsylvania, because that’s what I’m all about – JOBS, A GREAT ECONOMY, LOW TAXES, NO INFLATION, ENERGY DOMINANCE, STRONG BORDERS, NO ENDLESS WARS, LOW INTEREST RATES, and much more!” he wrote.

The stock market soared following Trump’s comeback election, with many believing the Republican will be a champion of business. It remains to be seen whether this will entice other foreign business leaders to move to America.
