Well, it’s new day in Washington, for better or for worse.

Thune, who currently serves as the Senate Republican Whip, was voted in 29-24, beating out Rick Scott of Florida (who had the fewest votes in the first round and was therefore disqualified for the second) and John Cornyn of Texas.

Thune says his team will be “united behind President Trump’s agenda.”

People are flooding social media with the reasons they don’t believe Thune’s sudden MAGA enthusiasm.

Bonus pics:

Okay, but maybe his views have changed. After all, JD Vance is Trump’s VP and he didn’t like Trump in 2016.

And maybe once Thune learned the truth about violent felon George Floyd and his arrest, or that the Capitol officer who died wasn’t killed by protesters, he course corrected?

Or … maybe he held Trump in disdain until all of 5 seconds ago?

Here’s Thune talking about the 2024 election:

Many Trump supporters have been arguing for days that Sen. Rick Scott was the only one of the frontrunners that had a consistent and strong track record for upholding conservative values.

Trump’s son has also been critical of Thune’s record. Consider this post from last year:

Many Trump voters aren’t exactly happy about the GOP senators appointing Mitch McConnell’s protégé, even if the GOP did so in the effort to build bridges with their Democrat colleagues.

Speaking of Democrats, the current Senate Majority Leader seemed happy about business being conducted as usual.

I guess the senators haven’t heard that we’re draining the Swamp?

Good luck, Thune!
