President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Tom Homan, a major advocate of deporting illegal aliens, to be his “border czar” in his next administration.

Trump announced his selection of the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a late Sunday night post on his TruthSocial platform.

“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump wrote.

“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders,” the president-elect added. “Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”

Homan is one of the conservative movement’s top experts on immigration, a strong believer in enforcing the current laws on the books and taking a no-nonsense approach to border security.

In an interview with the CBS News show 60 Minutes last month, Homan gave a matter-of-fact annswer when asked whether there was a way to conduct mass deportations without separating families.

“Of course there is. Families can be deported together,” he answered.
