Democrats are desperate to understand why Kamala Harris lost so spectacularly to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election and continue to flail about in grasping for that knowledge.
But Jamal Simmons, who served as Harris’ communications director from January 2022 to January 2023 before joining CNN as on-air political commentator, has narrowed it down to the public’s desire for “drama and transparency.”
And on that note, Simmons suggested Sunday on State of the Union that President Biden should resign and allow Harris to become president for the drama it would evoke.
“Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president. He’s lived up to so many of the promises he’s made,” said Simmons. “There’s one promise left that he could fulfill — being a transitional figure. He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris the President United States.”
“He would absolve her from being able to — from having to oversee the January 6th transition, right, of her own defeat,” he added. “And it would make sure that it would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things that the public want to see is a time — this is the moment for us to change the entire perspective of how Democrats operate.”

In pushing the harebrained idea on X, Simmons claimed without explaining how that such a move would “turn the tables on Trump.”
“Joe Biden has been amazing but he should fulfill one last promise – to be transitional,” Simmons said. “Biden should resign and make Kamala Harris the first woman president. It’d turn tables on Trump, keep Kamala from presiding over Jan 6 make it easier for the next woman to run.”
“Dems have better policies but we must realize the old rules no longer apply,” he explained. “We are not playing table tennis. We are in a mixed martial arts fight and Americans respond to drama and excitement. We should use that to make our arguments for a better path forward.”

Of course, rewarding Kamala Harris for suffering such a colossal loss would put a crimp in everyone’s Trump 47 swag:
Please don’t ruin my MAGA 47-45 hat.

There’s absolutely no way that a majority of women want this stunt to be how the first woman becomes president for 30 days. What a slap in the face.
