The Kardashian family has largely remained out of the cultural spotlight as Americans focused on the 2024 election, but that couldn’t last forever.

As the holiday season approaches and people switch from thinking about ballots to thinking about Christmas gifts, Kim Kardashian launched an ad for her SKIMS clothing brand. The campaign featured actress Goldie Hawn, her children Kate and Oliver Hudson, and their respective families all celebrating the season with a montage of shenanigans, hijinks, and holiday cheer.

Unfortunately, it hit a sour note with some viewers:

On Instagram, people had some less-than-stellar things to say about both the content and timing of the ad:

“This is incredibly insensitive considering the election,” wrote one user, presumably still reeling from Vice President Kamala Harris’s electoral loss.

“Yeah, Americans are all doing this right now,” another person wrote mockingly.

“Girl please. Completely out of touch,” noted “vintagebarbie_1959.”

“Meanwhile most people can’t afford Groceries,” one woman wrote, reality-checking the celebrity entrepreneur who featured lobster in the ad.

“Tone deaf as always,” stated another user.

Over on X, things didn’t get much better:
