The White House has held its first press briefing since Donald Trump’s election victory.
When speaking to reporters on Thursday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the outgoing administration is going to focus on keeping the government open and hurricane relief among other issues.
She also insisted that the administration is going to keep working on ending the war in Gaza, securing the release of the hostages and work on a resolution to the situation in Lebanon.
When pressed by reporters on Joe Biden’s potential role in Kamala’s loss, Jean-Pierre declined to say if the president feels any responsibility for it or regrets about when he chose to leave the race.
“The president understands that he’s going to respect the will of the people. That’s what he understands. He understands that the American people made a decision and he’s going to respect that. He believes he made the right decision when he stepped, stepped aside, decided that he wasn’t going to run,” she said. “And we can’t, we can’t rewrite history.”
Jean-Pierre’s remarks come amid infighting with the Democrat party over the election loss, with some Harris allies placing blame on the president.
