President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday announced his first staffing position for his second administration, placing his co-campaign manager Susie Wiles as his White House Chief of Staff.

Wiles, who has been credited as an important part of the success of Trump’s victory earlier this week, was considered a frontrunner for the position after the election, per NBC News.

Trump won the 2024 election by flipping several swing states that he lost in 2020, including Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said in a statement. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again.”

Wiles, who served as the essential campaign manager and a senior Trump adviser, will become the first female White House chief of staff in history. The chief of staff is in charge of overseeing the day-to-day and policy affairs of the White House, according to Politico.
