On Tuesday evening, Republican voters delivered what may be the most shocking election victory in American history. From Donald Trump’s resounding presidential victory to the defeat of Democratic incumbent senators who were supposed to be relatively safe, the 2024 election was a mandate, and it’s one the GOP is going to be eager to take advantage of.

SEE: TRUMP WINS PRESIDENCY

Of course, the other shoe to drop was how Democrats would respond to such an electoral embarrassment. Well, I’m here to report that if MSNBC is an indication, and it is, zero lessons have been learned. Let’s

PSAKI: NBC News can now project that Donald Trump has won the State of Wisconsin, which means he is the winner of this race and will return to the White House as the country’s 47th president. And for so many of you watching right now, that news is, to say the least, a lot to digest. I understand that personally. After he lost four years ago, he refused to accept the outcome and incited a violent insurrection on our nation’s Capitol. He’s campaigned while facing criminal indictments related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 results, and he’s run as a convicted felon.

During this campaign, he also promised to essentially be an authoritarian leader. To use power like no American president ever has before and wield that power to go after his political enemies. This is also a man who has bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade and stripping away women’s bodily autonomy. He’s promised to conduct mass deportations to crack down on the rights of millions of Americans. Donald Trump is an anti-democratic force, but he’s just been elected democratically.

Where do you even start with that? Someone with the ability to partake in introspection might ponder where their hysterical descriptors are effective or even true. Bringing up January 6th is proof positive that the far-let just doesn’t get it. Likewise for talking about abortion yet again. And how can mass deportations of illegal immigrants crackdown on the “rights of millions of Americans?”

Democrats had a chance to respond to this rejection with a serious look at why they’ve lost the trust of so many voters. Instead, they seem content to double down on the hysteria while making excuses for the things that actually cost them this election.

PSAKI: I think this is a big, huge, huge part of the story that is even hard to digest at this moment, but you have Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, X, whatever we’re calling it these days, X, who is a disinformation propagandist and now has a direct, could, potentially, have a direct line to the Oval Office.

What’s not captured in that clip is that Michael Steel, who is sitting to Psaki’s right, had just tried to explain to the panel that Americans do not believe Democrats care about them and see the party as tone-deaf and elitist. Guess what? He’s right, but instead of accepting that critique, Psaki and Molly Jong-Fast immediately pivoted to claiming all their woes were due to “disinformation.” Again, zero lessons have been learned.

As for ‘Morning Joe,’ the coverage there wasn’t much better. Here’s Mika Brzinski’s take.

No, Harris did not make history unless we are talking about being the worst presidential nominee in America’s nearly 250 years of existence. Any post-mortem of the election has to include the fact that Americans are sick and tired of affluent, left-wing, scolding girl-boss politicians who are more concerned with “breaking the glass ceiling” than delivering for voters. If you want a comparison, it’s the same reason Hollywood is currently on its deathbed.

To his credit, but only a little bit, Joe Scarborough at least seemed to get it.

The problem with what he says there is that he and his show were some of the worst offenders. So yeah, Democrats are radically disconnected from the rest of the country, but ‘Morning Joe’ and the like are a primary reason why. Until they can admit that directly, the same mistakes will continue to be made.

In contrast, if Democrats listened to someone like Harold Ford, Jr. on Fox News, a longtime Democrats analyst, they would have a path back to competitiveness. They won’t, though. Instead, they will keep pushing further left, convinced that if they divide people a little more, they can come up with a winning coalition. Buckle up. The next four years are going to be wild.
