Per Decision Desk HQ, Democrat Tim Kaine has defeated Republican Hung Cao to win his third term representing the commonwealth of Virginia in the U.S. Senate. Kaine was originally elected to the Senate in 2012 when he defeated Republican George Allen; Kaine then went on to win reelection in 2018 by defeating Republican Corey Stewart.

Kaine, who was once Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential nominee, made headlines this past weekend when he appeared as himself on “Saturday Night Live.” Before being elected to the Senate, Kaine served one term as Virginia governor.
