Democrat Katrina Christiansen faced off and lost against Republican incumbent Kevin Cramer in the race for North Dakota’s Senate seat.
Although she has no prior political experience, she is an assistant professor at the University of Jamestown. Christiansen is also a member of the Washington Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization.
Christiansen’s website states, “Her mission is unwavering: to empower North Dakotans with government resources for their success. Throughout history, North Dakota’s legacy has been prioritizing its people. Katrina vows to tirelessly champion their cause, advocating for farmers, ranchers, laborers, teachers, essential workers, and the land.”
Christiansen also says that she strives to “make the rich pay their taxes,” “protect Medicare and Social Security,” “protect and woman’s right to choose,” and “support innovation in agriculture and energy sectors to take on climate change.”
According to Republican Kevin Cramer’s website, he is a “strong advocate for the free market system… has a proven record of cutting and balancing budgets encouraging the private sector through limited, common sense regulations, and limited government.”
Cramer was first elected to the United States Senate in 2018. Prior to beginning his Senate run, he served three terms as North Dakota’s At-Large Member of the United States House of Representatives.
Following three terms as North Dakota’s At-Large Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, Cramer was elected to the U.S. Senate on November 6, 2018. He is a member of the Committees on Veterans Affairs, Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Environment and Public Works, and Armed Services.
In order to improve North Dakotans’ competitiveness in the international market, he sought to guarantee that they receive some of the lowest utility rates in the country. As a specialist in energy policy, Cramer asserts that he is aware of how crucial America’s energy security is to both economic and national security.
He was endorsed by 45th President Donald J. Trump.
“Senator Kevin Cramer is doing a fantastic job representing the incredible people of North Dakota in the United States Senate. During my Administration, Kevin worked closely with me to create Space Force, which continues to Protect and Defend our Great Country. Kevin has been with me from the very beginning, helping advance our America First Agenda. In the Senate, he is working hard to Secure the Border, Grow the Economy, Cut your Taxes, Eliminate Needless Regulations, Support our Veterans, and Fight for our Constitutional Rights, including our under siege Second Amendment. Kevin Cramer has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump said on Truth Social.
At the time of this reporting, Cramer won with 68.4% of the vote compared to Christiansen’s 31.6%
