Adam Schiff has won California’s Senate race.

Schiff and Steve Garvey competed for the U.S. Senate seat that was long held by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). She occupied the seat for a lengthy three decades. Feinstein passed away on September 29th, 2023, at the age of 90.

Garvey, a former baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, says that he decided to run because of his frustrations with the current state of politics.

The main focus of his campaign is cleaning up the economy, tackling inflation, securing the chaotic southern border and inhibiting crime numbers overall.

Regarding the border, he specifically strives to “increase funding for border security, limit asylum claims for those entering illegally, and enact immigration reform to address these challenges once and for all.”

His campaign also highlighted the state’s growing homelessness issue and the seemingly frivolous funds taken from California taxpayers that do not seem to be helping the issue.

“California spends over $7 billion annually—$42,000 per homeless person. It’s time to audit where this money is going… Address Root Causes: Acknowledge mental health issues and addiction as major contributors to homelessness,” his site continued.

Additionally, Garvey argues that rampant crime in the state is due to Democrat officials who have turned their backs on the police force.

“Back the Blue: Ensure law enforcement has the training, equipment, and education needed to protect our communities. Enforce the Law: Hold prosecutors accountable and ensure existing laws are enforced—no more looking the other way. Support Stiffer Penalties: Advocate for tougher penalties to deter crime and keep our streets safe. Fund, Don’t Defund the Police: Defunding is not the answer—better funding for training and resources is essential,” Garvey continued.

Democrat Congressman Adam Schiff spent millions on his campaign in the Golden State.

In the past, Schiff famously pushed the false “Russian collusion” narrative, claiming that Russia colluded with the Trump campaign to win the 2016 election.

However, after the Department of Justice (DOJ) concluded that there was no evidence of Russian collusion involved in the 2016 GOP presidential campaign, Schiff shifted his allegations by maintaining that no matter the findings of the DOJ, the Trump campaign still had “ill-advised” meetings with those of Russian descent.

During Schiff’s campaign, he also stated that his number one priority in the Senate would be “to address California’s twin crises of housing affordability and homelessness,” similar to Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom.

Schiff is currently the representative for California’s 30th congressional district.

His website states, “Adam is perhaps best known for his work to protect our democracy. He led the first House impeachment inquiry and served as the lead manager for the first impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump.”

“In Congress, Adam has led efforts to raise the minimum wage, protect hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness, and build an earthquake early warning system,” it continues.

Although Garvey ran a good campaign, it was a tough uphill battle for him, as no Republican has won a California Senate race since 1988. Additionally, according to the survey site elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov, in 2023, Republicans only made up 23.90% of voters in the Golden state.

At the time of this reporting, Schiff won with 59% of the vote compared to Garvey’s 40.7%

11% of the expected votes have been counted.
