Fani Willis, the district attorney in Georgia’s Fulton County who brought charges alleging former President Donald Trump attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, won reelection Tuesday.

Willis, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Courtney Kramer, according to The Los Angeles Times.

In February 2021, a month into Willis’ tenure, she announced her investigating into whether Trump and others broke laws trying to overturn Trump’s narrow reelection loss in the Georgia to Democrat Joe Biden. Two and a half years later, Willis obtained a racketeering indictment against Trump and 18 others.

The case is effectively on hold during an appeal of a judge’s ruling allowing Willis to continue prosecuting the case, following revelations about her having a romantic relationship with a special prosecutor she hired for the case, which was followed by arguments the relationship created a conflict of interest, the newspaper also reported.
