Former Obama adviser David Axelrod admitted there are no guarantees voters will turn out for Vice President Kamala Harris on Election day.

“I can tell you that I’ve talked to people who have been on the ground in places like Philadelphia, Detroit, New Orleans, and they have all said the same thing,” Axelrod said on CNN.

“There’s zero enthusiasm on the ground for Kamala Harris in the demographics that they need.”

At the same time, the former Obama advisor attempt to reassure Democrats by saying President Trump is not “closing well” with a final message before the election.

“He is actually abetting her message in the final week, that’s going to make Republicans uncomfortable. I’m sure they would love him to stay tethered to that prompter a bit more and deliver the message that they think will help him win this election,” Axelrod said.

“But he’s not closing well. She’s closing in a much more disciplined way.”

However, Axelrod, who has been relatively optimistic about Harris’s electoral prospects, seems less confident as the election draws closer.

Following Harris’ disastrous CNN town hall last month, Axelrod said Harris sometimes took too long to explain her answers on questions and she spoke in a “word salad.”

While he spoke more enthusiastically of Harris’s closing message to voters, it appears he thinks Harris’s campaign may not have been strong enough in the run up to the election.

Earlier this month, several left-wing media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post, refused to endorse Harris, another signal that his election hopes are in the trash.

Even former First Lady Michelle Obama stated, “I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn.”

“We pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that [Trump] doesn’t even have the courage to do,” she continued.
