The Harris-Biden Justice Department has a golden opportunity to prove that it isn’t a hyper-politicized entity after late-night host Jimmy Kimmel told his viewers to vote after the election, a similar suggestion to a meme that drew a prison sentence for a Trump supporter.

Conservative social media influencer Douglass Mackey was sentenced to spend time behind bars last year for “election interference” with the federal law enforcement agency stating that he “attempted to trick voters into believing they could vote by text message” when he posted a satirical social media meme in 2016.

In an unhinged 20-minute rant during Wednesday’s edition of his ABC show, the DNC ventriloquist dummy made a joke that was very similar to the one that put Mackey through a living hell in what critics have called a politically motivated persecution, a feature of the DOJ under the current administration.

“You have to vote. If you can vote early, vote early. If you can’t vote early, vote on time. If you want to vote for Trump, vote late. Vote very late. Do your voting on Thursday or maybe Friday,” The Trump-hating comic told his audience.

Kimmel’s seeming attempt to “trick voters” into voting too late for it to count seems a lot like what Mackey was convicted for, and X users wondered if he will also pay a price or if it’s just going to be another example of the two-tiered system of justice that now exists in the United States of America.

“Douglass Mackey was sent to prison for this,” Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) pointed out.

“Biden’s DOJ sent Douglass Mackey to prison for sharing this same joke about Hillary,” noted former investment banker John LeFevre. “Another example of the weaponized lawfare and two-tiered justice that awaits us if Kamala wins.”

Mackey also weighed in to put Kimmel’s “election interference” in perspective.

“When I made an election joke, the Deep State used it as a pretext to conduct a fishing expedition against me, subpoenaing all financial records, leases, employment information and pay stubs, and email accounts,” Mackey asked. “Will Jimmy Kimmel enjoy the same?”

“One of the foundational rights we hold as Americans, a right that many fought so hard to obtain, is the right to vote. The defendant weaponized disinformation in a dangerous scheme to stop targeted groups, including black and brown people and women, from participating in our democracy,” U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in an October 2023 statement proudly announcing Mackey’s sentencing. “This groundbreaking prosecution demonstrates our commitment to prosecuting those who commit crimes that threaten our democracy and seek to deprive people of their constitutional right to vote.”
