The inner turmoil among Democrats is already brewing with Election Day on the horizon and the inevitability that this will be a very close race. Democrats are already looking to assign blame in the event that Vice President Kamala Harris fails to defeat her opponent, former President Donald Trump.

Even though it is not yet clear who will win the White House on Tuesday, Democrats appear to be panicking about the prospect of losing to Trump.

While some Democrats say they are increasingly hopeful that Harris will win, others have expressed mounting frustration about a string of factors that have plagued the campaign from the outset.

Fingers are being pointed at Harris and her campaign when it comes to disappointment over her messaging, particularly on the economy.

But some Democrats have already looked to pin the blame on President Biden, who some think took too long to step aside.

“People are nervous and they’re trying to cover their ass and get a little ahead of Election Day,” one Democratic strategist said of the sniping. “It’s based on anxiety, stakes and the unique nature of this cycle.

“We didn’t have a traditional process for this election. We didn’t have a primary. People just had to fall in line,” the strategist added, saying “it’s not surprising to me” that some of the blame game is happening even before Election Day.

If Harris loses, “there will be a mad dash to assign blame,” the strategist added.

Others suggested that the vice president’s decision to choose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate might have been a mistake. “[Harris] is going to look real silly for not picking Shapiro,” a former Obama White House aid told The Hill.

A donor said that despite Walz being a “great guy” who people might want to have a beer with, “he wasn’t a great choice.”

Of course, Biden’s recent remarks referring to Trump supporters as “garbage” isn’t helping matters either.

It is also important to note that Harris may have alienated far-leftist progressives by pretending to move to the center with many of her policy proposals. Her questionable decision to tour with former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is also turning off many on the left, given that despite her deep, burning hatred of Trump, she remains an establishment neocon.

Despite these complaints, there appears to be an understanding that Harris’ supposed lurch to the center is merely a tactic aimed at appealing to enough voters to win the election. She remains a far-leftist authoritarian who wants to expand the government.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said as much during a September interview when he was asked about it. “I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election,” he said.

Harris and Trump remain in a statistical dead heat according to the latest Real Clear Polling average, which puts Trump ahead by only 0.5 percent. He is one point ahead in top battleground states.
