Joe Rogan had a few thoughts about the media-induced “controversy” centered around a bad joke about Puerto Rico over the weekend during former President Donald Trump’s remarkable rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The joke told by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe was that Puerto Rico is a “floating island of garbage.”
“Don’t do it,” Rogan advised. “Don’t ever do comedy at a place that’s doing ‘also.’ Doing, you know, you’re gonna have a bunch of speakers and you’re gonna go up and do 10 minutes?”
“Don’t ever do that. It’s a terrible setup. It’s a terrible setup and it’s a political rally and you’re doing jokes like you’re in a comedy club. It doesn’t… you can’t — don’t do it,” said the podcast host/comedian.

Hinchcliffe was talking about how wild times are today when he quipped, “There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
Team Kamalot pounced on the joke to drive a racial wedge to boost its chances among Hispanic voters, deceptively identifying Hinchcliffe as a “Trump rally speaker.”

Keep in mind, Puerto Rico has a history of dealing with an alleged “trash crisis” due to many of the island’s landfills being filled beyond capacity — not that the political class media propagandists will mention that.
Hinchcliffe would blast Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz over his response to the incident.
“These people have no sense of humor. Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist,” the comedian posted on X. “I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone…watch the whole set. I’m a comedian Tim…might be time to change your tampon.”
The conversation on the Joe Rogan Experience pivoted to how Hinchcliffe is among the best insult comedians of today, with Rogan calling him “the best roaster ever.”
Rogan, who reportedly recommended Hinchcliffe to the Trump campaign, then dropped a bomb of sorts when the focus shifted to whoever booked Hinchcliffe as being responsible for the controversy and allegedly went over his material.
“This is what I read on the Internet, so it must be true, Rogan joked.
“I gotta tell you, that joke kills at comedy clubs. I don’t like the joke, but it kills,” he added. “If you’re Puerto Rican and you hear that in the audience, you’re like, “Uhhhh.” But it’s a funny joke. The joke does well, but I said to him, ‘Dude that’s the one that’s going to get you stabbed.’”
