The X post states in full:
The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is referring Former New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for criminal prosecution. Evidence suggests Andrew Cuomo knowingly and willfully made materially false statements about New York’s COVID-19 nursing home disaster and the ensuing cover-up. The Department of Justice must immediately charge Andrew Cuomo with making false statements to Congress.
The thread is revealing:
During Andrew Cuomo’s transcribed interview in June 2024, he made THREE materially false statements.@COVIDSelect’s referral provides @TheJusticeDept with overwhelming evidence that Andrew Cuomo made each of these statements knowingly and willfully🧵👇

The issue arose from Cuomo’s order placing COVID-19 patients in nursing homes, among the most highly vulnerable populations, and his alleged order to understate the deaths in those nursing homes by not counting patients who died after being transferred to hospitals.

The Subcommittee Chair, Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) stated:

“This appears to be a conscious, calculated effort to insulate himself from accountability,” wrote Rep. Brad Wenstrup, the committee chairman, adding that the DOJ should consider Cuomo’s alleged prior misconduct when evaluating potential charges. The letter asserts that Cuomo’s actions “may constitute a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001,” the federal statute on false statements.
Honestly, nothing will come of this referral. The Harris/Biden Justice Department won’t prosecute Andrew Cuomo, any more than they will any governor who took similar actions. But the implications on any possible future political career Andrew Cuomo may have had are certainly damaged by this action; any opponent will hang the Subcommittee’s referral on Cuomo like a battleship anchor.
This is a developing situation. We will watch this and bring you updates as events warrant.
