GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign sent a letter to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, requesting that it bolster election security.
Earlier this week, the Colorado secretary of state’s office announced that voting systems passwords were accidentally posted online.
“The Secretary of State must immediately identify the counties affected by the security breach, notify them, direct them to halt processing of mail ballots, and prepare to re-scan all ballots,” the Trump campaign said in an emailed statement.
Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) said that her office is investigating and workers are changing passwords.
The Colorado Department of State said that what happened did not pose an immediate threat to how ballots are counted.
“This process is laid out under Colorado law and would not disrupt the voting process, as counties are not permitted to disclose results until 7:00PM on Election Day,” the Trump campaign said.
