The White House late Wednesday evening tried desperately to clean up after President Biden appeared to call half of America, those who support Donald Trump, “garbage.”

The background on this is the controversy over an insult comic that appeared at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

During the rally at MSG, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made jokes (that’s what comedians do, people) about Puerto Rico, stating, “There is literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now,” in reference to the U.S. territory.

Naturally, the humorless media have been outraged over the comment for days, calling it “racist.” Imagine emerging from a Dave Chappelle show, and your headline is that you’re outraged over ‘racist’ jokes. That’s basically the case here.

But then came Biden’s Revenge.

Biden made remarks during a Voto Latino call where he used Hinchcliffe’s remarks as a springboard and appeared to refer to Trump’s supporters as “garbage.”

Biden Calls Trump Supporters Garbage

The hilarious part about all of this controversy is that Vice President Kamala Harris was supposed to have the spotlight last night.

Harris delivered her closing argument speech at a rally on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., where she contrasted her vision of unity and progress with Trump’s alleged focus on division and personal vendettas, calling him a “petty tyrant.”

And then her own boss, the petty tyrant that he is, comes out and steals the thunder.

“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American.”

The video makes it quite clear who he is referring to. But the White House went into furious clean-up mode, adding an apostrophe to the word “supporters” to make it seem as if he were referring to the comedian alone. And the transcript releases itself from the administration, and their friends in the media went completely off the rails.

So bad was the situation that President Biden was forced to clarify his remarks on social media well past his bedtime.

“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” a statement on X reads.

“His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.”

But that’s not what he said. At all. The reality, unfortunately for him and Kamala, was caught on tape.

By night’s end, absolutely nobody was talking about Harris’s speech any longer. Biden had taken the air out of her entire effort with remarks that echoed the famous “basket of deplorables” comment from Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said at the time. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it.”

Of course, Harris herself is no better, linking Trump to Adolf Hitler and generally referring to anybody who supports him as neo-Nazis.

This is who they are. This is what they think of you. Behave accordingly.
