Rapper Lil Durk was recently awarded the keys to the cities Broadview and Bellwood, two villages in Chicago, for partnering in philanthropic work for the city.

This was the ceremony last Friday.

And, yeah, less than a week after this ceremony, Lil Durk is sitting in jail after being arrested in connection to murder-for-hire.

The dude was taken in with multiple buddies in South Florida because he was traced to a murder-for-hire plot that took place in Los Angeles back in 2022.

As (‘Lil Durk’ Devontay) Banks was taken into custody Thursday, federal prosecutors in California announced the arrest of five others: Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston — whose charges include murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire conspiracy and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.

The charges stem from the 2022 slaying of Georgia rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab, born Saviay’a Robinson, in Los Angeles.

Did ya get all that?

Yeah, me neither. Except the main thing is that this “gang” of rappers, all part of the Only The Family (OTF) record label, allegedly plotted the death of another rapper’s cousin.

The defendants were offered money and “lucrative music opportunities with OTF,” for the murder of Bowman, according to the indictment. A credit card associated with OTF was used to purchase airplane tickets to fly to California and murder Bowman, the indictment detailed.

Almost like the world of gangster rap hasn’t changed at all in 40 years.

On news of the arrest, them mayor of Broadview rescinded giving Lil Durk the key to the city. They didn’t want to be associated with the alleged felon for some reason.

This isn’t the only violent crime this particular rapper, who has been featured on a lot of mainstream music, has been accused of lately.

Earlier this month, the mother of deceased rapper FBG Duck filed a lawsuit linking Lil Durk and the late King Von to her son’s gang-related murder in Chicago’s Gold Coast in August 2020. The suit claims that Duck, whose real name was Carlton Weekly, was shot to death in broad daylight masked assailants outside a Dolce & Gabbana store, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The lawsuit accused ‘OTF’ of functioning as a ‘criminal enterprise.’

it’s absolutely wild that a record label is, allegedly, acting as a nationwide mafia.

And all this came out less than a month after Lil Durk’s second chance at a clean slate.

Yeah, that didn’t age well.
