The return of the Harris campaign to the Trump Is Hitler theme has me thinking. Those of us who lived through their respective administrations know that, according to the left, just about every Republican president of the modern era has been Hitler. Nixon was Hitler. Reagan was Hitler. Bush (41) was Hitler. Bush (43) was Hitler. Trump was Hitler. Now Trump is Hitler again.
Which raises the question: What Republican president of the modern era hasn’t been Hitler? By my count, there is one.
In high school he was a three-sport athlete. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan he was a substitute center behind All-American Charles Bernard on national championship teams of 1932 and 1933. In 1934, his senior season, he started at center for all of Michigan’s games and was named team MVP. He worked his way through Yale Law School as the college’s assistant football coach, attending law school in the off-season.
The man of mystery to whom I’m referring is Gerald Ford, of course. According to the left, Ford wasn’t Hitler. He was a stupid klutz.
I give the last word on this subject — the last word at the moment — to past Clinton adviser (both Clintons) pollster Mark Penn.
We all have to reunite regardless of who wins the election.
Calling your opponent a fascist when slipping in the polls is irresponsible after 2 assassination attempts. You can’t complain about January 6th and then recreate it.
It’s wrong for the campaign and for the country.
