The brilliant TikToker who went viral for pulling down Greek flags because she thought they were Israeli is now facing charges for her stunt.

Back in March, Amber Matthews went on an anti-Israel tirade outside of an eatery in Montclair, New Jersey that had a display of Greek flags. But the 23-year-old evidently thought the flags on the awning of Efi’s Gyro represented Israel and took out her anger on them.

“Free Palestine, b–ch!” she yelled as she tore down the display while confused staff looked on. “You know there’s a genocide!”

In a head-scratching move, the activist who goes by “Ambamelia” on social media decided to share the video on TikTok this month, bringing fresh attention to her ignorance and landing her in trouble with the law.

“It has us asking, what was she thinking?” NewsNation’s Dan Abrams asked in a video report last week.

“At the time, the female suspect was reportedly yelling at the restaurant workers, and it appeared the female was taking a video,” police reported. “An employee, who was present during the incident, stated that she was approached by the suspect, who began asking if the workers at the restaurant were aware that there was a ‘genocide going on.’ She repeatedly said that she did not support this while holding the Greek flags in her hand.”

“The suspect also yelled out that ‘they’re killing children,’ and asked the workers if they were proud of their heritage,” police added.

After yelling about “genocide” and “Zionism,” Matthews was informed by the restaurant staff that the flags she was angrily tearing down were actually Greek.

“Really? I thought it was Israel. My bad,” she is heard saying in the video she posted.

Though an investigation was launched in March after the incident, police reportedly had no leads until Matthews outed herself. Police said the security footage from the eatery was reviewed by a Montclair police bias incident investigator who then notified the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and state Attorney General’s Office, Montclair Local reported.

Security footage revealed that Matthews had been at the location a week before the incident handing out pro-Palestine flyers.

She has now been charged with bias intimidation and harassment, police said on Thursday.

“Montclair is a community that strives to treat all individuals with dignity and respect,” police Chief Todd Conforti said, according to Montclair Local. “I hope this investigation sends a clear message that our agency will not tolerate any form of harassment or discrimination, and offenders will be held accountable for their actions.”
