Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) called out abortion-on-demand Queen Kamala Harris over her “prejudice” against Catholics who have been repeatedly insulted by Democrats and their nominee.

In a blistering op-ed for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Republican vice presidential nominee tore into Harris after she snubbed the traditional Al Smith Dinner, a Catholic charity event, and one of her top surrogates blasphemed one of the religion’s most sacred rites in a sick video mocking Holy Communion.

“Kamala Harris’s anti-Catholic record is disgraceful and an insult to millions of Americans,” Vance said in a post to X, sharing a link to his column.

“Last week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, one of Vice President Kamala Harris’s top surrogates, mocked the sacrament of the Eucharist in a cringey skit with a podcaster,” Vance began. “Last Thursday, Ms. Harris became the first presidential candidate since 1984 to skip the annual Al Smith dinner, a fundraising event that benefits Catholic Charities.”

“The first insults Catholics, while the latter displays a more subtle disregard for an important Catholic cultural event, one that raises money for social services that aid people in need, including people with disabilities and refugees and immigrants. Both show the Harris campaign’s anti-Catholic bigotry,” Vance said.

The Ohio Republican went on to detail examples of Harris’ hostility toward Catholics including her “slandering” of the Knights of Columbus, the fraternal Catholic organization that has been devoted to public service since it was founded 142 years ago, her hostility toward the Supreme Court over upholding religious liberty, and her legislative record which has been “antagonistic toward Catholics,” specifically the so-called “Equality Act,” which “would render the Constitution’s protection of religious liberty effectively null and void.”

“Among many potential consequences, this legislation would demand that Catholic churches host same-sex weddings, require Catholic schools (and all federally funded education institutions) to allow men to compete in women’s sports and share women’s restroom and locker room facilities, and strip faith-based charities of their tax-exempt status,” he wrote of the bill which would institutionalize government privilege for homosexuals and transvestites and mete out severe punishments to those who don’t bow down to the protected demographic.

Vance also noted that in 2019, the vice president “introduced the equally misnamed ‘Do No Harm Act,’ which would force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions and even transgender surgeries. If this bill were to become law, Catholic doctors and medical professionals who refuse to perform late-term abortions or subject minors to dangerous, life-altering surgeries could lose their license and face federal discrimination lawsuits,” and that as attorney general of California, she went after a whistleblower who revealed Planned Parenthood was engaged in the illegal organ trafficking of tissue harvested from aborted babies.

“In the White House, Ms. Harris has been an integral part of the most anti-Catholic administration in living memory — ironic given President Joe Biden’s Catholic faith,” he continued, pointing out that under the current administration, “multiple FBI field offices were tied to a coordinated effort to target traditional Catholics as potential ‘racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.’” Despite this apparently clear-cut instance of anti-Catholic prejudice, a Biden-Harris Department of Justice declared there was “no malicious intent’ behind the memo.”

Vance also mentioned Catholic pro-life dad Mark Houck whose scuffle with an antagonistic pro-abortion activist who attacked his young son resulted in a 2022 FBI raid when heavily armed agents “terrorized” his family, hauling him away with the intention to lock him up in prison for over a decade while at the same time, the DOJ was extremely lenient to a violent abortion activist “who attacked a church employee, smashed windows, and defaced religious statues in Washington.”

“It’s an absurd double standard. While this administration has been busy targeting suburban Catholic dads, it has essentially ignored the nearly 300 attacks on Catholic churches since the leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision in 2022,” he wrote, adding, “As a Catholic myself, I have a personal investment in ending this consistent pattern of anti-Catholic policies and actions. But even non-Catholics and nonreligious Americans should be alarmed.”

“If politicians can use the power of the government to target Catholics for their faith or force them into compromising their beliefs, they can trample any of the rights we hold dear if those rights get in the way of their agenda,” Vance said of Harris and the politicized law enforcement agencies that she would command if she ends up in the White House.

“There was once a time in our nation’s history when both parties agreed on a common set of ideals, among them the understanding that an individual’s First Amendment right to practice his or her faith supersedes the political agenda of any bureaucrat, elected official, or political party. Ms. Harris has made clear that time has passed,” he concluded. “Only by rejecting her record of anti-Catholic bias will we ensure religious liberty for all.”
