Virginia’s efforts to create a secure election hit a snag when a judge ordered individuals removed from voter rolls to be returned.

Election Day is coming up, and US District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles is siding with President Joe Biden’s administration and other private groups that challenged efforts to remove potential non-citizens from Virginia’s voter rolls. The judge found that the efforts violated federal law which dictates that a systematic removal of registered voters cannot be conducted within 90 days of any federal election.

“When it is within the 90-day period, it must be done on an individualized basis,” Judge Giles explained, adding that the timing of Virginia’s effort “left no room for individualized inquiry.”

Youngkin went on Fox News to decry the “stunning ruling” to “reinstate individuals who have self-identified as non-citizens back on the voter rolls.”

“Even more astounding is the vast majority of these folks have presenting immigration documents confirming that they were non-citizens, and we recently had that verified by federal authorities,” he continued, incredulous.

X users reacted to the story, with some urging Youngkin to disregard the federal judge’s ruling and continue removing non-eligible voters from the rolls.
