A former Obama administration official seemed removed from reality when he offered up a nonsensical defense of Vice President Kamala Harris on the border issue.

The “Fox & Friends” cohosts were stunned by the comments from former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson who insisted Harris as president would be tougher on the border than former President Donald Trump.

Johnson was asked about the vice president’s stance after her response during a CNN town hall about executive orders on the border by the Biden-Harris administration.

“I think we did the right thing. But the best thing that can happen for the American people is that we have bipartisan work happening,” the Democrat nominee said.

“What is your reaction when you hear Kamala Harris saying that they did a good job and they take credit for a superb job on the border?” Ainsley Earhardt asked Johnson.

“I’ll start with this. Everyone keeps asking Kamala Harris, what would you do differently from Joe Biden?” Johnson responded.

“She won’t quite say this, but I will. I believe that she will be tougher on the border. She will be tougher on border security. As a former prosecutor and a former law enforcement officer, she is fundamentally a law enforcement officer. That’s how she spent most of her career; I believe she would be tougher on border security,” he declared without hesitation.

“But the problem is she got this job right away on some level,” co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out. “And this is the first visit walking with Donald Trump’s border wall. If she cared about the job, even if she did badly, I would say it’s not my policy. I’m only vice president. She would have been there. Mr. Secretary.”

“Well, as the person who owned this issue, this problem has been going on for 37 months,” Johnson retorted. “Border security is more than just a photo op at the border.”

The discussion continued with Kilmeade frequently making points about the reality on the border and the Democrat administration’s failures to maintain law and order. Johnson continued to defend Harris. insisting she would do a great job if elected despite the abject failure to do so the past four years.

“In fact, she worked to raise two public-private partnerships, hundreds of millions of dollars for Central America that is in effect. Now. We need to continue to do a whole lot more than that. And she will be tougher on border security. That’s, I believe, pretty obvious,” he said.

Kilmeade told the former Obama official that the situation has “gotten so much bigger since you left,” adding that the sentiment for migrants is “come one, come all. The word came out.”

“That trend line began while Donald Trump was president,” Johnson claimed, prompting the response, “You’re kidding.”

Social media users seemed just as stunned by Johnson’s biased grasp of reality, expressing shock and anger on X.
