A number of air defense batteries were hit in Iran by the Israeli Defense Forces during a retaliation strike, according to reports.
On Friday, Israel launched strikes in retaliation against Iran in response to an earlier attack when Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles towards Israel on Oct. 1, which were mostly intercepted with the help of the United States.
An Israeli official said that multiple S-300 air defense batteries were hit in the strike, according to CNN, though no specific number was given.
These strikes “directly translate” to increasing the ability of Israel’s Air Force to maneuver in the region and carry out future strikes if Iran chooses to retaliate, according to the official.
Iran said that there was limited damage and sought to downplay the strike.
The Gaza Civil Defense said that several people have either been killed or wounded in the strike.
Some security restrictions have been lifted in different parts of northern Israel as the war between the Jewish state and Hamas continues.
