This has not been a great year for Boeing, that’s for sure:

A communications satellite built by Boeing has fallen apart while in orbit, as reported earlier by Jalopnik. On Saturday, Intelsat said its 33e satellite stopped working due to an “anomaly” before confirming its “total loss” on Monday.

‘We are coordinating with the satellite manufacturer, Boeing, and government agencies to analyze data and observations,’ Intelsat said. The company has since established a board to conduct a ‘comprehensive analysis of the cause of the anomaly.’

I guess an “anomaly” is what satellite managers call “some kind of catastrophic explosion or something that just detonated the satellite.”

The satellite was launched in 2016 “to provide communications across Europe, Asia, and Africa.” No word on how those communications are functioning now that the thing is toast.

Whatever the end result, folks, Boeing is having a rough year. Remember in January when a chunk of a Boeing plane ripped off, sucking passenger’s belongings out into the air at 16,000 feet?

That led to a major Boeing official resigning his post:

Or what about when an engine cover came off a Boeing plane mid-flight:

Or what about its major layoffs earlier this month?

Not sure what’s going on, but man, the company has just had a really bad 2024.

Here’s hoping 2025 is a little better for ya, Boeing!
