Billionaire Warren Buffett is not handling the 2024 election like he has in the past and the “Oracle of Omaha” is setting the record straight on any claims otherwise.

A statement revealed that fraudulent claims have been circulating about the 94-year-old investor and chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. While Buffet has supported Democrat candidates in past elections, he is now sitting out the 2024 race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“In light of the increased usage of social media, there have been numerous fraudulent claims regarding Mr. Buffett’s endorsement of investment products as well as his endorsement and support of political candidates,” his office said in a statement that was posted to the company website.

“Mr. Buffett does not currently and will not prospectively endorse investment products or endorse and support political candidates,” the statement added.

Though Buffet backed Hillary Clinton over Trump in 2016 and previously endorsed former President Obama, he did not endorse any candidate in the 2020 race.

“I’m worried about people impersonating me and that’s why we put that on the Berkshire Web site. Nobody should believe anybody saying I’m telling them how to invest or how to vote,” the CEO,  estimated to be worth nearly $145 billion, told CNBC’s Becky Quick.

“I don’t even know how to get on Instagram,” he told CNBC amid reports of so-called deepfakes using artificial intelligence. Buffet wants to be sure people realize “anything they see with my image or my voice, it just ain’t me.”

“The investor’s statement comes a day after the New York Times reported that fellow billionaire Bill Gates contributed $50 million to a political group backing Harris for president,” the New York Post noted. “Meanwhile, Trump has 50 billionaires supporting his White House bid, most notably Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.”
