Editorial chief at LA Times quits after paper refuses to endorse

We wondered yesterday what the heck was going on over at the LA Times when they wouldn’t endorse either presidential candidate.

Now, it appears that we’ve got a genuine problem in the halls of the Times. And it’s causing some major shakeups.

The LA Times, the leftist rag that it is, has been warning about the Orange Man — running around hair on fire — for nearly a decade at this point. So of course the chief of the editorials page thought they were going to endorse Kamala Harris.

And when they didn’t, Mariel Garza took a stand by quitting her job.

The owner of the paper took to X, however, to clear up exactly what happened.

According to Dr. Soon-Shiong, all he asked the LA Times editorial board to do was to look at both sides fairly, list a few positives and negatives for each candidate, and then make their decision based on the list.

They refused to do that, and therefore the paper didn’t issue an endorsement.

If we take the owner at his word, we have to assume that the entire editorial board of the LA Times was incapable of creating a list of positives about Harris, or even acknowledge the existence of the Orange Man, and therefore were unable to justify an endorsement that would satisfy their boss.
