Watch this and tell me how this guy survived:

[Warning: Turn off the sound if you don’t want to hear cursing like a sailor]

WILD.

The kid, Sam, reportedly survived with just a sore noggin:

Before you ask, no, that wasn’t a customer. The brakes on the vehicle apparently failed:

So many things went wrong here, but somehow he avoided being pancaked.

Brake failure or not, the driver (Aaron) decided to accelerate into the building like he was trying to get a boost in Mario Kart. He also decided that the best time to accelerate into said building was when his co-worker was still in the way:

“It’s-a me, a-Mario!”

At this point, Aaron may have slammed on the brakes – but again, brake failure or not, you’re gonna have a hard time stopping when your front wheels are airborne:

Physics in action

Moving this bar may have saved Sam’s life:

Why?

Well, it changed Sam’s foot placement when he made that first jump away from the car:

If he had landed differently, he might have fallen on that second bar and gotten compressed by the force of the vehicle. Instead, Sam was able to fall over it and get clear of it into this pocket:

The energy of the moving vehicle was then transferred into the tool box, which slid to give Sam’s head room to avoid the bumper:

If the tool box had been bolted down, we’d be having a different conversation right now.

Speaking of tools, did you notice the wrench set sitting in the corner?

If you replay the video slowly, you’ll see that the car moved up by an inch or two just before it slid over Sam … because that wrench set was there.

The mass of the vehicle still came to rest partially on the Sam’s body, but by then, most of the force in the acceleration had been transferred into the tool box, so he didn’t get the brunt of the impact.

All that to say … a very specific set of things had to happen to keep this dude from being seriously harmed.

Mathematically speaking, it was a miracle.
