Former White House strategist and Trump ally Steve Bannon’s daughter, Maureen Bannon, on Tuesday accused the Biden administration of illegally detaining her father.

“To me, it’s blatantly clear they’re trying to keep my dad illegally detained because at this point he is eligible for release,” Maureen said on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast. “So this is an illegal detainment in order to keep him silent ahead of the most crucial election in our lifetime.”

Bannon was sentenced to 120 days in prison after a jury convicted him on two contempt of Congress charges in 2022 for not complying with a congressional subpoena. A judge allowed Bannon to delay his sentence while he appealed the convictions but he was ordered to report to prison in Connecticut in July.

Maureen said her father was qualified under the First Step Act for early release to home confinement. He is slated for release from prison next week.

“What came out yesterday is the acting warden said that the Bureau of Prisons is saying that there is not enough time left in his sentence to set up home confinement because at the time that he was notified that he was eligible for early release to home confinement under the first step Act was Friday,” she added.

She said that the Bureau of Prisons had this motion for over 75 days and that the acting board said there isn’t enough time left to to set up home confinement so that he can get out on early release.
