Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat, has made a desperate last-minute move to win votes by throwing President Joe Biden under the bus.

In a Casey-approved TV campaign ad released Friday, supporters of the senator touted his independence from President Biden and even praised some of former President Donald Trump’s policies.

Watch:

The supporters were a married couple identified on screen as Marygrace and Joe.

“I’m a Republican,” the ad began with Marygrace.

“And I’m a Democrat,” Joe added.

“Our marriage — pure Bliss,” Marygrace then said as she took over the narration. “But on politics, we just don’t agree, except for Bob Casey. He’s independent. Casey’s leading the effort to stop corporate greedflation and price gouging.”

Casey bucked Biden to protect fracking and he sided with Trump to end NAFTA and put tariffs on China to stop them from cheating. So in this house, we agree it’s Bob Casey who’s doing right by Pennsylvania,” she added.

Casey himself then appeared in the ad to say, “I’m Bob Casey, and I definitely approve this message.”

The question now is why did Casey feel desperate enough to throw the “big guy” under the bus? Some believe it’s because, while he’s leading in the polls, Republican challenger Dave McCormick, a combat veteran and businessman, has been steadily gaining on him.

Elizabeth Gregory, a McCormick spokesperson told Fox News that the ad amounts to “another sign of desperation from flailing career politician Bob Casey.”

Other critics noted how Vice President Kamala Harris was entirely missing from the ad: She neither showed up in it nor was mentioned by Marygrace and Joe a single time.

“Bob Casey is now running ads cozying up to Trump,” Pennsylvania state Rep. Russ Diamond wrote in a Facebook post. “1) He knows Kamala is going to lose PA. 2) He’s desperately trying to extend his do-nothing career. Vote Dave McCormick for US Senate!!!”

Trump’s campaign has also weighed in on the ad.

“Leftist scumbag Bob Casey — who supported BOTH impeachment hoaxes and votes with Kamala 100% of the time — is now desperately trying to embrace President Trump,” the campaign wrote in a Twitter/X post. “Pennsylvanians know he’s a shill for Kamala’s deranged, radical left agenda — and always will be.”

Yet Casey isn’t alone in pulling such shenanigans. Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin, also a Democrat, has reportedly done the same thing.

“Baldwin, who is locked in a tough race with Republican challenger Eric Hovde, is also running an ad that cites Trump in a favorable light,” Fox News notes. “In the spot, the former president is shown signing into law legislation Baldwin sponsored while Trump was in office. Baldwin previously ran the same ad in March of this year.”

Watch some of the ad below:

Speaking with Fox News, Trump campaign senior adviser Tim Murtaugh offered his take on these shenanigans from Casey and Baldwin.

“These are liberal Democrats who have opposed Donald Trump every step of the way going back years, voting with Chuck Schumer all the time, but faced with their own defeats, they have suddenly publicly embraced Trump in their own TV ads,”  he said. “Not only does this mean that Trump is winning the battle of ideas, it also means they know he is winning in their states.”

“This is undeniable, irrefutable proof that Trump is winning in these key battlegrounds, and those bumps you hear are Kamala Harris being thrown under the bus by incumbent Democrats, who used to be her colleagues in the Senate. The Harris camp must be beside themselves with fury over being rejected and abandoned like this, but that’s what happens when you get stuck with the worst candidate in modern political history,” he added.
