The IDF has now confirmed that its forces took out Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza today. The Times of Israel reports here. It is must reading in its entirety.

In addition to glory hallelujah, there is much that can and should be said about Sinwar’s elimination. For the moment, I only want to note the following.

Sinwar supposedly wanted to die a martyr, but it it appears that he was on the run.

The Times of Israel story notes: “He was not being directly targeted, and troops only realized that one of the three dead terrorists was apparently Sinwar when they inspected the scene of the firefight on Thursday morning.” The Times of Israel also notes that Sinwar was killed in Rafah. Rafah? That rings a bell. Let us recall.
