Symone Sanders Townsend, Vice President Kamala Harris’s former top aide, blasted the “tone” of the interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier.
She specifically remarked on how she felt he wasn’t himself and accused him of being “rude” and “misleading” in his questioning of her former boss.
“Honestly floored by Bret’s tone. Glad she did it though,” she posted on X.
“But on the tone, I have sat in the room for a number of interviews with VP Harris and they have been tough. I’ve never witnessed what I witnessed tonight though. The interviewer wasn’t themselves – instead, he was rude, misleading and pulled questions straight out of a proverbial Trump/Vance press release,” she added in a follow-up post. “The best part is, VP’s response was simply to match his energy, stick to her why of the interview, and not take the bait. <— this is what a President would do.”

While Sanders Townsend praised Harris for her poise and matching Baier’s “energy,” it was also reported that her handlers were desperate to end the interview early. As BizPac Review previously reported, Baier revealed that “like four people” were “waving their hands like it’s gotta stop” by the end of the interview.
“Dana, you’ve been on the other side, you’ve been the wrapper as a press secretary interviewing a president,” Baier told Fox News colleague Dana Perino following the sit-down with Harris. “And you know I’m talking like four people waving their hands like it’s gotta stop… I had to dismount there at the end.”
It was also noted that the interview ended up beginning late, which shortened the amount of time Baier had to question the vice president.
“We were going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, ‘Well, maybe 20,’ so it was already getting whittled down,” Baier said. “Then the vice president showed up about 5:15. We were pushing the envelope to be able to turn it around for the top of the 6 o’clock. So that’s how it started…”

X users had a different take on the interview than Sanders Townsend:
VP Harris got her ass kicked by a journalist who challenged her. Watch the interview and her face- time and time again she looks frazzled, and she said over and over let me make it clear because she needed time to think. I’m so glad we get a Trump win and this(icing on cake).

It’s insane that asking her questions from statements she made out of her own mouth is somehow a “proverbial Trump/Vance press release.”

If she did so well, why did her team abruptly end the interview?

Blaming tough questions on the interviewer’s tone instead of addressing the substance—sounds like deflection to me. A real leader tackles tough topics head-on. #Accountability

Asking important questions for undecided voters is not rude. Bearing your teeth, pointing your finger, and filibustering was not a Win. Can you imagine Kamala having to deal with Putin. He would eat her alive.

She strengthened the base that was already voting for her. I don’t think she moved the needle for undecided voters. We need more policy details and less Trump bashing. Some of my best friends support Trump and if you are going to get my vote bashing my friends choice won’t do…

She was pathetic and didn’t answer direct questions. If you’ve EVER been on a job interview and responded to direct questions the way Harris did, you WOULD NOT get the job. Neither should Harris. She blew it. It’s what she does best.
