This should serve as a reminder to the ‘Never Trump’ crowd – or those who waver on supporting Donald Trump because they want the nicer, more palatable candidate – The left hates everybody. Just as much, just as fervently.
Everybody, to them, is “literally the next Hitler.”
First it was George W. Bush. Then John McCain was “even worse.” Then Mitt Romney was “even worse” than McCain. Now, Donald Trump is the “worst,” while Democrats parade around the Cheneys of all people.
Usually they wait until the next election to declare the current GOP candidate “the worst,” but this time, they’re making J.D. Vance the “newest worst” before Trump is even done!
Chris Truax, an appellate attorney who served as Southern California chair for John McCain’s primary campaign in 2008, just penned an op-ed in which he declares vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance is actually “worse than Trump.”
The crux of Truax’s argument is that yes, Trump launches “verbal assaults on American democracy” but Vance does so a little more articulately.
Vance suggested the 2020 presidential election was tainted in large part because the media helped President Biden get elected by covering up the Hunter Biden laptop story. And that, you see, is a bridge too far.
“Donald Trump and JD Vance have told us they are going to ignore their oath, ignore the constitution, and ignore the rule of law,” he writes, describing the latter as “much worse” than the former.
JD Vance Worse Than Trump
The absurdity of it all is something to behold. As I mentioned earlier, they usually wait to dub the next super-bad man until after they’ve discarded the old version.
Yet Truax is simply going headlong into the notion that Vance is already “worse” for “democracy.” And you’d think he’d know better, having served on McCain’s primary campaign.
Does anybody recall how they treated the former Senator prior to him becoming an anti-Trump hero? Supporters of Barack Obama leading up to the 2008 election belittled McCain’s war record, mocked him for the injuries he suffered, scoffed at his age, and even compared him to a Nazi.
This was eight years after “the next Hitler” George W. Bush derailed his 2000 campaign with rumors of an illegitimate child. Of course, McCain would end his career by saving Obamacare. You know, just like Hitler would have done.
People forget that even the squishiest of Republicans have been portrayed as evil long before Trump came along. Some tried to associate 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney with the Ku Klux Klan. He was an abuser of women who hated dogs and was going to put black people back in chains.
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were both labeled versions of Hitler. The latter was even dubbed Darth Vader. This has been going on for a quarter of a century.
J.D. Vance is just the next iteration, folks. But having it come from a former McCain aide is remarkable.
DeSantis Was Worse Than Trump Too
Further bolstering that argument is the fact that another man many considered to be a ‘reasonable’ version of Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, received the same treatment.
The media wasted no time comparing his campaign launch to the KKK.
MSNBC host Joy Reid claimed DeSantis was running a campaign so “fascist” that it made Trump look tame by comparison. Stuart Stevens of the Lincoln Project, a former Romney aide, also said DeSantis is “worse than Trump.”
And now Vance is the same.
See the circular firing squad in the Republican Party here? Former Romney aides, and former McCain aides, all saying people other than Trump are actually worse. The next Hitler.
That kind of ignorance is expected from Democrats and the media. To have it come from so-called Republicans is why we lose.
